The wonder that is children

I have always loved children, and it is not just because they are cute and cuddly and whatnot. But they are just so incredible, why you might ask? Well, let me explain. I stumbled upon a YouTube-video, starring children from the ages of 5 to 13 in the United States. But before I continue on with it, I would like to just discuss something else briefly.
There is this Swedish-speaking Finn journalist, writer and talk-show host: Mark Levengood. For those of you who are not familiar with this man, let me just say that he is incredible. But I will not delve much further into an account about him, but let me just tell you about a book that he co-authored with Unni Lindell. The book is called: ”Gamla tanter lägger inte ägg” – which can be translated roughly to: old ladies do not lay eggs. This book then is filled with quotes made by children, and let me just say it is a lovely read.
So this is what I wanted to get to, children. They are incredible in a way that they are so open-minded, logic, funny and they are able to see the world and grasp things/phenomena in a way that I do not think that adults are capable of. In a way it makes me think that we underestimate children, they are very smart and not cynical as many adults may be. And here I do not mean that adults are bad for being cynical, but rather that it is an unavoidable part of life. As we grow up we hear things, see things and ultimately I believe that it can make us cynical, which can lead to prejudice for example – a quite negative thing.
This YouTube-video that I want to share with you is so wonderful and it makes me feel happy; like there is still hope. It shows how children can give insight into very serious subjects, but we should all be aware that adults still shape their children and if adults are cynical and prejudicial, the kids might turn out that way too. So please, listen to these kids, listen to their arguments! I was actually really impressed with their way of expressing themselves, they do it better than a lot of adults who have been interviewed on TV about their view on same-sex marriages.
Also read the intro-text in the video. Enjoy!
